Abstract
The woolly aphid is a serious pest of apple nursery stock. Loss at digging time may approach or even exceed 50% of the trees of 2-year-old apples. Red Spy and Northern Spy vars. grown upon their own roots are much less susceptible to infestation than other vars. Benzene hexachloride (12% gamma isomer) at 2 lbs./lOO gal. with 1 pt. Orthex, a liquid oil-base sticker, is promising for the control of this pest. Parathion and nicotine sulfate are somewhat less effective. Keywords
