Abstract
This paper focuses mainly on Victorian experience. Studies documenting the associations between driving after drinking and road trauma, the introduction of random roadside breathtesting, levels of knowledge and the incidence of drinking problems amongst drivers, the profile of convicted drink drivers, and the use of drugs by drivers are all discussed. The impact of counter measures is studied and possible new counter measures are suggested. Keywords
