Abstract
The dissociation energy of PO(g), D° 0(PO)= 593.0 ± 8 kJ mol–1 has been measured thermochemically. This result supports the value for D° 0(PO) obtained from the predissociation in the D′2Π state of PO, D° 0(PO) 593 kJ mol–1 and strongly suggests that this predissociation is an exact one. The atomization energy of PO2(g), has been determined to be D° 0(PO2)= 1086.2 ± 11 kJ mol–1 and is shown to be consistent with spectroscopic data for this molecule. Keywords
