Abstract
This note describes an electronic circuit developed to provide power and temperature control for electron bombardment heating applications in ultrahigh vacuum. Salient features of the design include closed‐loop feedback control based on a temperature sensing element and a configuration which is fail safe with respect to both short and open circuits in the temperature sensing device. This circuit has been used for control of a Knudsen cell in molecular beam studies and for heating a single crystal substrate in LEED‐Auger spectroscopy studies.
