Abstract
In the last two decades or so, there had been an increasing awareness of the necessity to incorporate the multiple conflicting objectives of decision makers into decision models. Consequently many methods of multicriteria decision making (MCDM) have been proposed. Of these techniques, Goal Programming is perhaps the most popular. This paper presents a review of goal programming, updating recent algorithmic development and computer code elaboration. It emphasises also that goal programming can be of immense benefit in developing countries as an aid to better development planning. Keywords
