Abstract
With the aid of neutron detectors having thresholds at 1, 5, and 12 MeV, the angular distributions and average cross sections of the reaction have been investigated at 19-, 22-, and 25-MeV energy. All angular distributions show strong forward peaking suggestive of direct interactions. One case, involving only transitions to the ground state, exhibits a type of structure similar to that of protons from the reaction to the first excited state, the analog of the ground state. However, the momentum transfer at a reasonable radius is such that plane-wave theory would predict a minimum at 0° instead of the strong forward peak observed.
