Abstract
The antibody response to diphtheria toxoid by cultured tonsil cells was suppressed by herpes simplex virus during its inductive stage. Since only T [thymus-derived] lymphocytes readily supported virus replication, this immunosuppression may be attributed to a selective effect of the virus on this population of cells.
