Some Characteristics Distinguishing High and Low Dose Users of Benzodiazepines

Abstract
Summary: A study is reported which attempts to demonstrate differences between patients who seem to want high doses of benzodiazepines and those apparently content with low doses. The following correlated to some degree with actually taking higher doses: being male, young, drinking largish amounts of caffeine, having had a past problem with alcohol, being unemployed, having had problems at home in childhood, and scoring highly on the psychoticism scale of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ), on hysteria in the Crown Crisp Experiential Index (CCEI), and depression in the Anxiety Depression Inventory (ADI).
