Denture Stomatitis with Inflammatory Hyperplasia

Abstract
Inflammatory papillary hyperplasia of the palatine mucosa was first adequately described by Fisher in 1952, and there has been only occasional reference to this entity in the dermatological literature.1 Sutton's textbook makes a brief comment and there is one other casual reference which has recently appeared in the Archives.2,3 The lesions have a striking appearance and are usually referred to the dermatologists by dentists who undoubtedly are not too well informed of this condition. Oral surgeons recognize the entity. The purpose of this paper is to report 2 cases which were seen by the author within a 2-week interval of time and posed a some-what baffling problem as this had not been observed previously nor since by the writer. It is hoped by the presentation of these 2 cases, along with photographs and histological studies, that this will be of some help to other dermatologists who might beKeywords
