However much we may wish it to, Laetrile is not about to disappear. Last May the Journal's editor expressed the exasperations of most physicians when he declared in these columns, "This Laetrile business is reaching the point of absurdity."1 Yet since that time 14 states have voted to legalize the drug, and a Federal District Court Judge has ruled that patients with terminal cancer may import Laetrile for their own use, provided they obtain a statement from their physician.All this activity is in the face of continued strong opposition from virtually every reputable cancer specialist and major medical organization . . .
