Abstract
A theory is presented to describe ionic distributions in compensated crystalline lattices in the intermediate temperature region in which dissociation of ion—defect pairs becomes significant. A conceptual model of an assembly of independent ion—defect pairs in equilibrium with unassociated ions and defects is introduced. The problem of volume exclusion evolves as a natural consequence in the interpretation of the model. Calculations for the KCl:Sr2+, and NaCl:Sr2+ systems are displayed and related to transport properties. Keywords
