Abstract
Results from experiments with rats support the proposition that tolerance to the hypothermic effect of alcohol involves the Pavlovian conditioning of compensatory responses. Tolerance was substantially reduced when alcohol was administered in an environment that had not been associated with alcohol. Direct evidence of a conditioned hyperthermic compensatory response was found. Keywords
