Abstract
Hog cholera virus grown in [pig kidney] PK-15 cells and [swine kidney] SK-cells was labeled with [35S]methionine and [3H]uridine. At least 3 polypeptides were resolved by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis after disruption of the virus with sodium dodecylsulfate. The MW of structural proteins were 55,000 (p55), 46,000 (gp46) and 36,000 (p36). The MW of the viral RNA was about 4 .times. 106 in polyacrylamide-agarose-gel electrophoresis. In sucrose gradients the RNA has a S20,w [sedimentation coefficient at 20.degree. C in water] value of 40-45S. [This virus probably belongs to Togaviridae family since its polypeptide pattern is similar to that of alphaviruses.].Keywords
