Abstract
Focal changes in the state of the capillaries in C. N. S. following the adm. of different anesthetics can be observed after inj. of India ink and gelatin into the vascular system. Following barbiturate anesthesia numerous dilated capillaries are seen in the supra-optic and paraventricular nuclei of the hypothalamus; but after ether relatively few capillaries are open and these appear constricted. In contrast, the capillaries of the cortex are more dilated by ether than by the barbiturates. These findings are offered as further evidence for a hypothalamic site of barbiturate action. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
