Abstract
A first order α - β tracking filter is evaluated on the basis of steady state tracking error when the target model is known to be in error. Simple recursive relationships for implementing the filter are derived and shown to be equivalent to a Kalman filter. An example illustrates the improvement in steady state response that is achieved. Keywords
