Abstract
This study of pancreatic transplantation comprised 5 categories: (1) autotransplantation in dogs; (2) homotransplantation of large fragments taken from adult dogs; (3) homotransplantation in dogs of total organs with vascular anastomoses; (4) homotransplantation of small embryonic and neonatal fragments in dogs; (5) homotransplantation of small neonatal fragments in humans. Homotransplantation of the pancreas by these techniques was not successful, although the method of transplantation as well as the sites of grafting and characteristics of the recipient were varied. Simple problems of maintenance of islet tissue viability have accounted for the lack of success in this study. Keywords
