Abstract
Further evidence was adduced indicating that glucose stimulates the pancreatic production of insulin. Intravenous injections of glucose in normal dogs provided an optimal supply of insulin, as indicated by the marked falling off of blood and urine sugar values from the initial high levels. Additional insulin given by injection was, under these conditions, inert; whereas, in depancreatized dogs the tolerance could not be increased by glucose, and insulin injections were effective.
