Abstract
The serum precipitable or protein-bound iodine concn. has been measured at approx. weekly intervals in healthy young adults by the method of Barker, slightly modified. Only minumal fluctuations were observed during this time, ranging from 0.3 to 1.1ug. %. This finding would suggest that the protein-bound iodine concn. remains quite constant in healthy individuals, at least during limited periods (1.5-2 months) of observation. Statistical evaluation of the fluctuations that did occur indicated that in female subjects the protein-bound iodine tended to be higher between menstrual periods. Keywords
