Abstract
Summary: Trench sections excavated for a gas pipe-line north of Wolverhampton were observed to collapse because of sand infilled wedges intersecting them. The wedges form the remnants of fossil ice-wedge casts which developed in the West Midlands following the retreat of the last ice. Selected examples of collapse features are illustrated and remedial action suggested. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
