Abstract
Dimethyltrisulfide (CH3)2S3 has been investigated by the electron diffraction method. The molecule was found to have the chain configuration, with the following interatomic distances and angles: C–H=1.09A (assumed), C–S=1.78±0.04A, S–S=2.04A, ±0.02A, ∠H–C–S=112° (assumed), ∠S–S–S=104°±5°, and ∠C–S–S=104°±5°. The results also suggest that the C–S bonds oscillate with rather large amplitude about a mean position approximately 106° out of the plane of the three sulfur atoms. Keywords
