Abstract
The term “physiologic anemia of pregnancy” should be abolished. A drop in hemoglobin value during pregnancy is not normal. All women should receive iron supplementation during pregnancy regardless of hematologic values. Data are presented which demonstrate the error of complacence based on a “normal” hemoglobin value in the first trimester of pregnancy. Keywords
