Abstract
The magnetic properties of GdMg3 and TbMg3 have been found to depend very strongly on the Mg concentration. With increasing Mg concentration the strong ferromagnetism is lost, giving way to antiferromagnetism. For the magnesium rich compound TbMg3 the magnetic structure has been determined by neutron diffraction. Ferromagnetic (111)-planes are stacked antiferromagnetically in a direction perpendicular to these planes. Keywords
