Abstract
Crossbreeding tests were made with seven species of Trogoderma (T. glabrum (Herbst), T. granarium Everts, T. grassmani Beal, T. inclusum LeConte, T. parabile Beal, T. simplex Jayne, and T. sternale Jayne) found in California. Progeny were not obtained from any crossbreeding tests which included T. grassmani, T. inclusum, T. parabile, T. simplex, and T. sternale, indicating complete reproductive isolation of these five forms of Trogoderma. Interspecific hybrid progeny were readily obtained from crosses between T. glabrum and T. granarium but all hybrids were sterile. Evidence of hybrid sterility indicated that specific isolation was preserved, although reproductive isolation between T. glabrum and T. granarium was not complete. It was conduced that all seven forms of Trogoderma used in the study were distinct and valid species. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
