Abstract
This review gives major attention to the use of genetic techniques in the analysis of behavior mechanisms in mammals. Hereditary variations in brain chemisrty, brain size, and endocrine activity are considered. Measures of behavioral adaptivity may be more significant phenotypes than measures taken in one standard situation. Genetic systems analagous to regulator genes in microorganisms may be involved in the control of behavior differences in which no metabolic errors have been detected. Keywords
