Pseudomelanocytoma at the Optic Nervehead

Abstract
During recent years the peculiar nature of pigmented tumors of the optic disc has been emphasized. Most of them now are generally accepted as benign tumors, called melanocytomas.1We would like to draw attention to the fact that not all pigmented tumors of the disc fall into this type of lesion. Case Report A 76-year-old white female was followed by one of us (F. H. R.) for nine years. Vision had consistently been recorded at 6/6 in both eyes, and the eyes were normal. The only complaint was of occasional pain in the left eye and floaters in the left vitreous. The last change of glasses occurred in 1961. On Dec 10, 1963 she complained of black streaks in the field of the left eye. At that time the vision in the right eye was 6/9 and in the left, 6/6-2. She had beginning nuclear cataracts in both lenses.
