Abstract
Various organ discs of Drosophila larvae were transplanted alone and together with ring glands into the body cavity of adult flies. The transplanted discs grow and differentiate under the influence of the hormone supplied by the simultaneously transplanted ring gland, but remain larval and cease to grow when transplanted alone. Whether the organ discs respond with growth or differentiation to the ring gland hormone depends upon the relationship between hormone concentration and organ responsiveness.
