Abstract
The incidence of Mycoplasma (M.) pneumoniae infection in Denmark from 1958 to 1969 was estimated. The estimation was based on tests for antibodies to M. pneumoniae performed on cold agglutinin positive sera originating from patients mainly suffering from respiratory tract illness. Three epidemics of M. pneumoniae infection occurred at intervals of 41/2 years. In the intervals, the infection was prevalent most of the time. The incidence in the months October to December was slightly higher than that in the other months of the year. During the 12‐year period nine epidemics of influenza, occurred; they did not coincide with those of M. pneumoniae infection. Keywords
