Clinical Team Building

Abstract
Clinical Team Building is a conflict management technique for work groups involved in the delivery of therapeutic residential services which analyzes dysfunctional interpersonal interactions that interfere with cohesive team functioning. This paper elaborates on a conceptual framework, discusses its application and utilizes examples from practice. Residential treatment programs increasingly face complex conditions that impact on their ability to build and maintain competent clinical teams. Clinical Team Building has proven to be an effective means of decreasing staff turnover and fostering cohesive treatment teams that are more focused on meeting the clinical needs of clients.
