Abstract
The lifetime and branching ratios of the proton (and neutron) in the standard SU(5) grand unified theory are calculated by making use of a simple SU(6) symmetric quark model for nucleon structure and Kane and Karl's three kinetic models for final mesons. The form-factor effects due to the finite sizes of the initial nucleon and final mesons are included.
