Abstract
Definition, Classification and CharacteristicsTHE glaucomas are characterized by three main elements: an increase in ocular pressure; development of increased cupping and pallor of the optic disk; and loss of visual field.1 , 2 Most of the evidence indicates that the main cause for the changes in the optic disk and visual field is often the increased pressure.An obstruction to the outflow of aqueous humor appears to be the main basis for the increase of ocular pressure in glaucoma.
