Antibodies against Staphylococcal Teichoic Acids and Type-Specific Antigens in Man

Abstract
Summary: Antibodies against a large number of type-specific antigens and against teichoic acids were demonstrable in pooled concentrated human γ-globulin using Ouchterlony double diffusion plates. Antibodies against type-specific antigens a and i and against teichoic acids were frequently demonstrable in concentrated γ-globulins from the subjects without staphylococcal disease but could rarely be detected in unconcentrated sera from the same subjects. However, unconcentrated sera from subjects with active staphylococcal diseases frequently contained detectable antibodies against both teichoic acids and type-specific antigen a.
