Abstract
The experimental results indicate that the production of thiobarbituric acid (TBA) positive material, apparently derived for the most part from polyunsaturated fatty acid peroxidation, decreases with maturation of rat brain. It appears that during maturation some factor or process is gradually introduced into, or generated within, the brain which retards the tendency of unsaturates to undergo oxidation in situ. This process is possibly related to the maintenance of stability in adult brain. Keywords
