Abstract
Hirsutella is restricted to spp. producing synnemata. Hirsutella, Tilachlidium and Synnematium are descr. and compared. Descr. of H. fusiformis on Orthoptera; H. citriformis on Homoptera; H. entomophila and H. stylophora on Coleoptera; H. barberi, H. subulata and H. gigantea on Lepidoptera; H. radiata on Diptera; and H. saussurei on Hymenoptera. Tilachlidium ramosum (H. ramosa Mains) is proposed. Synnematium jonesii on various insects is descr. Hirsutella stylophora is the conidial stage of Cordyceps s.
