Abstract
Estimation of the inorganic phosphate in resting voluntary muscles must be done without the use of acid solutions owing to the presence of a phosphoric ester which is rapidly hydrolyzed by acid. Of the supposed "inorganic phosphate" of the resting frog''s gastrocnemius 70-80% is organic phosphate of this labile nature ("phosphagen"). In fatigue most, and in rigor all, of the phosphagen is broken down with the liberation of inorganic phosphates. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
