Observations on the Effect of Preflight Meals Upon Altitude Tolerance

Abstract
Preflight meals, relatively high in carbohydrate, gave better altitude tolerance than meals high in protein and fat. Subjects were tested at 15,000 and at 17,000 ft. using the block and addition tests, stereocampimeter, pursuitmeter, self-rating and experimenter''s rating. For best altitude tolerance the protein content of meals should be 8-12% of the total calories.
