Abstract
Siggaard-Andersen, J. & Bonde Petersen, F. Venous Occlusion Plethysmography and 133Xe Muscle Clearance Measured Simultaneously on the Calf in Normal Subjects. Scand. J. din. Lab. Invest. 19, 106-112, 1967. The arterial blood flow/volume in the calf was determined simultaneously by venous occlusion plethysmography, using the DOHN plethysmograph, and by the 133Xe clearance technique in the anterior tibial muscle. Ten young experimental subjects had each lower extremity tested five times, during the period of hyperaemia following ischaemia, ischaemia+light exercise (0.18 kgm/min.), and exercise alone, giving a total of 100 determinations for each of the three experimental conditions. The coefficient of variation for the highest measured flow/volume under these conditions of submaximal vasodilatation was 13 per cent for plethysmography and 21 per cent for 133Xe clearance. This difference is significant (p<0.001).This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
