Abstract
Summary: Identification of a cowpox virus isolated from a childAn orthopoxvirus isolated in 1985 from an infected girl was identified as a cowpox virus (Orthopoxvirus bovis) by investigating its cultural, biological, morphological and serological properties in comparison to 4 animal orthopox reference viruses pathogenic for man.The epidemiological aspects of the infection, of which the contact animal could not be found, are discussed.Zusammenfassung: Ein 1985 von einem erkrankten Mädchen isoliertes Orthopockenvirus wurde anhand kultureller, biologischer, morphologischer und serologischer Eigenschaften und im Vergleich mit 4 tierischen Orthopocken‐Referenzviren mit humanpathogener Bedeutung als Kuhpockenvirus (Orthopoxvirus bovis) identifiziert.Die epidemiologischen Aspekte der Kontaktinfektion, bei der die tierische Ansteckungsquelle nicht ermittelt werden konnte, werden diskutiert.
