Abstract
Bone morphogenetic protein (BMP), a paracrine agent inducing cartilage and bone cell differentiation, circulates in the blood and is detectable by BMP radioimmunoassay. Serum BMP levels are higher in growing children and patients with Paget''s disease than in normal adults. These observations are interpreted as evidence of a BMP function in the physiology of bone in health and disease. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
