Abstract
The tetragonality of BCT gamma manganese is investigated by calculating the volume conserving axial pressure. This pressure is obtained using the energy bands and wavefunctions of a bandstructure calculation for gamma manganese. The bandstructure and the resulting pressure indicate that, for this structure, gamma manganese is tetragonal with c/a1 tetragonal phase of manganese-nickel alloys with high nickel content. Keywords
