Lithium doping of (CH)x molecular diffusion of the dopant

Abstract
We have studied the kinetics of the n‐type doping process of cis‐(CH)x using lithium–benzophenone solutions in THF. For short doping times the distribution of the dopant in the film is strongly inhomogeneous. The diffusion of the dopant in the material is characterized by two processes with very different kinetics corresponding to the interfibrillar and intrafibrillar diffusions, whose coefficients could be determined by studying the evolution of the EPR spectra. Raman spectroscopy shows that during the doping process, isomerization from cis to trans occurs, in a time scale very short compared with the time needed by the dopant to diffuse in the fibrils.
