Sodium Salicylate Iontophoresis in the Treatment of Plantar Warts

Abstract
The management of the plantar wart has long been a perplexing problem. Treatments that have been used include surgical diathermy, electrolysis, cautery, solid carbon dioxide, roentgen rays, and ultrasound. Because 10 percent salicylic acid in collodion has also proved to be of value, it was hypothesized that salicylate ions might be introduced by means ofcommon ion transfer. Salicylate iontophoresis was found to be quite effective in the treatment of five patients.
