Effect of Colchicine on Screw-Worms

Abstract
Colchicine is more toxic to 3d-instar larvae of screw-worms (Calli-troga hominivorax) than to 1st and 2d instars. There was high pupal mortality when 3d instars were fed 0.0001% and high larval mortality when they were fed 0.0002%, but no mortality when the 1st and 2d instars were treated. The viability of eggs from flies treated as larvae was slightly reduced, and the testes and ovaries showed definite morphological changes.
