Abstract
An ethnographic study of aging was made in a Valley Zapotec community. The study included the sampling of perceptions and evaluations of various life periods for 50 adults, 36–80 years of age. The nature of the in Socio-cultural context which development takes place, and the significance of health and stress factors are outlined. The importance of understanding responsibility as a developmental dimension within the socio cultural setting is discussed.
