Abstract
Three additional experiences with human cross circulation for alleviation of hepatic coma brings the total to 21. To date, although coma has often been ameliorated, only 4 of 21 have survived, and there have been two immunologic deaths of cross-circulation partners. The total experience, especially when considered in the light of encouraging results with massive plasma exchange, emphasizes the risk of cross circulation when support is required for more than five days. Keywords
