Abstract
Violent outbursts and attacks by patients are unfortunate but common occurrences in clinics and emergency departments. What are the signs of impending aggression? How can physicians and other healthcare workers prevent or minimize the chance of attack? When are seclusion and restraint warranted? The authors address these questions and discuss intervention methods for dealing with violent patients. Keywords
