Abstract
The lysates of bacteriophage [lambda]either from infected sensitive bacteria or from induced lysogenic bacteria contain particles smaller than [lambda] and devoid of tail. The number of these particles is approximately equal to the number of [lambda]. Their shape is polyhedric like [lambda] and they have a protein coat carrying the same antigenes as the coats of [lambda]. They contain no DNA and no RNA. It could be that they contain the "condensing principle" wrapped up in the proteins which form the coat of the\phages.Keywords
