Abstract
A mass spectrometric study has been made of the interaction of NO and other additives with "purified" active nitrogen. The observed increase in N atom partial pressure when NO is added is interpreted in terms of a change in the accommodation coefficient of the N atoms. The metastable N2 species which can be detected with the mass spectrometer can be deactivated with N2O or NH3, but not with NO, O2, or NF3.
