Abstract
The current study explores the item structure of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). A factor analysis of responses of a large sample (n = 1291) yielded six salient factors, four resembling the four scales of the MBTI. Kuder-Richardson 20 coefficients are reported for the scales and factors. Pearson rs are also reported for the factor-scale relationships. All analyses yield only limited support for the item validity of the MBTI. Relevant issues involving the construction of the test are discussed and suggestions are made for future research. Keywords
