Abstract
The angular distribution of x rays emitted following conversion has been investigated theoretically. It is shown that the static nuclear quadrupole moment may sufficiently perturb the innermost electron shell to cause anisotropy in the angular distribution between the x rays and the coincident rays, as suggested by Sen and subsequently confirmed experimentally by Sen, Salie, and Tomchuk.
