Abstract
The ultrastructure of normal and diseased temporal arteries is studied. Degeneration of the smooth muscle cells in the media appeared to be the initial pathological change. Fragmentation of the elastic fibers and giant cell reaction may be secondary to the destructive changes.Keywords
